Post- 9/11 GI Bill® and Other VA Benefit Programs at a Glance
GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Select the benefit program of your choice to be directed to the VA’s website to read specific information on each program and eligibility.
- Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33): If you’ve served on active duty after September 10, 2001, you may qualify for this benefit. Check the current payment rates for the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Please note that this benefit requires monthly enrollment verification via text, email, online at VA.gov or by phone. Verify your enrollment at the end of each month to receive your Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) and/or kicker payments. Learn more about verifying school enrollment for GI Bill benefits.
- Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35): If you’re the child or spouse of a Veteran or service member who has died, is captured or missing, or has disabilities, you may be able to get help paying for school. Check the current payment rates for Chapter 35.
- Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (Chapter 30): If you’ve served at least 2 years on active duty, you may qualify for this benefit. Check the current payment rates for Chapter 30.
- Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606): If you’re a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard, you may be eligible for this benefit. Check the current payment rates for Chapter 1606. Please note that this benefit requires monthly enrollment verification using the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) system. - Veteran Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31): If you have a service-connected disability that limits your ability to work or prevents you from working, you may be eligible for this benefit.
- Transfer your Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits: Find out if you can transfer any of your unused Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to your spouse or dependent children.
