Who is Considered a Transfer Applicant?
A transfer applicant has completed a high school diploma or equivalent and has attended another college for at least one term as a degree-seeking student. Transfer admission to Spelman College is selective, and a maximum of 60 transfer credit hours may be applied toward a Spelman degree.
Applicants must be in good standing and eligible to return to their previous institution. While there is no minimum number of college credits required to apply, preference is given to applicants who have completed 35 or more transferable credit hours by the time of enrollment.
Competitive transfer applicants typically demonstrate strong academic performance at the college level, with a cumulative college GPA of 3.8 or higher.

Financial Aid
At Spelman, more than 85 percent of our students received financial assistance to support their enrollment and success. The majority of funds administered by Spelman College’s Office of Financial Aid come from federal and state sources. Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. The earliest that students can complete their FAFSA is Oct. 1.
