Student Life at Spelman offers a variety of extracurricular activities that serve to enhance the Spelman College academic experience. Home to more than 85 clubs and organizations representing everything from professional, cultural and spiritual development, to recreation, sports clubs and volunteer services, Spelman students receive a plethora of opportunities to meet new people and develop their interests or talents.

Our licensed mental health professionals are grounded in womanist perspectives that aim to support and empower the interconnecting and complex experiences of the whole person and how intersectionality impacts the lived experiences of women of African descent.
As Spelman College’s food service provider, Bon Appétit Management Company believes that food has an important role to play in individual wellness and in building culture and community to Spelman. Our chefs cook from scratch, using fresh local and seasonal ingredients that meet our sustainability standards. In addition to regional comfort foods and local favorites, you will find abundant plant-forward options, as well as menu choices that are made without the top-9 allergens every day.
The Wellness Center at Read Hall, which supports all the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, environmental, financial and occupational dimensions of wellness, continues to provide the Spelman community with resources that support health and wellness at every level. It is fully equipped to support the needs of the campus community and features MAC Courts, multipurpose rooms, a designated indoor /cycling room, and a heated pool. It also has an indoor track and a teaching kitchen and cooking classroom.
Sisters Chapel embodies a historic and contemporary spirituality of resistance and resilience that encourages women across the world to stand in solidarity with each other on behalf of equality and justice. With a ministry that lies in the intersection of justice and the liberating power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Sisters Chapel is an interfaith, affirming, and extravagantly welcoming space to anyone in earnest search for spiritual rooting.
Your health and general well-being is important to helping you grow and develop in ways that allow you to take full advantage of all the educational opportunities at Spelman. From something as simple as the sniffles or allergies, to managing anxiety, nutrition, immunizations, general women’s services, our doctors, nurses, and counselors are just a phone call or short walk away in historic MacVicar Hall.

All students have questions about their ability to succeed and graduate. These concerns, as well as concerns about accommodations, can be even more pressing for students with accessibility needs.The mission of the Student Access Center is to create an accessible academic, social and physical environment by minimizing challenges and facilitating academic success.
Many juniors, seniors and nontraditional students live off campus and commute anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes from campus. Commuter students are important members of the Spelman College community so let your voice be heard by joining the Commuter Student Association. Who knows? Maybe you'll meet a new friend with whom you can carpool or find a buddy to chat with while you ride the train. We're all about making your commute to campus and your Spelman experience more enjoyable.
