ATLANTA (Sept. 4, 2013) – Internationally recognized scholars will lecture on the intersection of race, science, sexuality and the politics of Black women’s bodies during the 2013-2014 Spelman College Ida B. Wells-Barnett Distinguished Lecture Series.

ATLANTA (August 22, 2013) -- Award-winning poet, activist and scholar, Sonia Sanchez, will give a free public reading at Spelman College on Sunday, August 25 at 3 p.m. in Sisters Chapel.

ATLANTA (Aug. 21, 2013) -- The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art presents the nationally touring exhibition, “Posing Beauty in African American Culture, ” which features more than 75 photographs by leading, emerging, and amateur photographers. The exhibition explores ways contemporary understanding of beauty has been informed by the works of photographers and artists dating from 1890 to the present. The exhibition will be on view Sept. 5 through Dec. 7, 2013.

ATLANTA (June 3, 2013) -- Spelman College students have a strong desire to give back. This year Spelman has the distinct honor of ranking among the top 10 feeder schools for City Year’s 2013-2014 corps.
