Data Science Masters Degree Program
Why are the Voices and Input of Spelman Women and Faculty Needed?
Fewer than 3 percent of data scientists are women of color. Data scientists often make decisions that are based on their experiences and perspectives. This can sometimes lead to inequities in how data are interpreted and used. Having diverse perspectives is critical to ensure that these inequities are minimized.
Why Was the Spelman/Michigan State University Partnership Created?
The Spelman College/MSU partnership is generously funded by the NSF Harnessing the Data Science Revolution (HDR) program and the Sloan Foundation. This partnership was developed to offer Spelman STEM majors an opportunity to gain skills and advanced training in data science.
