Title IX at Spelman College offers behavior-changing Title IX prevention and education on bystander intervention, consent, healthy relationships, sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. We utilize a prevention protocol to guide our efforts of sex discrimination and sex-based harassment prevention.

Training ensures the College meets all federal mandates, protecting our institutional integrity and securing vital federal funding for our educational programs.
Proactive Safety
It equips community members with the skills to recognize, prevent, and respond appropriately to sex-based discrimination and harassment.

Our goal is to foster a campus culture where accountability is standard, consent is understood, and every person is treated with dignity and respect.
Current Training Requirements
For Students
All matriculated and currently enrolled students must complete the mandatory online Title IX training module within the first 30 days of the academic year.

The Title IX Office is committed to proactive education and is available to conduct customized training and presentations for student groups, faculty meetings, and departmental staff upon request.
SpelSafe
A foundational workshop focused on personal safety strategies, risk reduction, and utilizing campus resources for secure living and learning environments.
Community 101 (Bystander Intervention)
Teaches practical, safe, and effective intervention techniques to disrupt harmful situations and foster a culture of collective responsibility.
What is Title IX?
A detailed, interactive session breaking down the law, how it applies to campus life, and the rights and responsibilities of all community members.
Don't Cancel Class
A faculty-focused training that provides resources and guidance for seamlessly integrating Title IX and consent education topics into existing course curriculum.
Specialized Training for Officials
Title IX Coordinators
Coordinators receive extensive training on scope, jurisdiction, supportive measures, and ensuring non-discrimination in all aspects of the College’s Title IX response.
Investigators
Training focuses on techniques for impartial investigation, evidence gathering, credibility assessments, and report writing for a fair grievance process.
Decision-Makers
Decision-makers are trained on objectivity, relevance determinations, burdens of proof (preponderance of the evidence), and applying College policy.
Title IX Training Content Disclosure
The 2020 Title IX Regulations, specifically 34 CFR Part 106.45(b)(10), mandate the public sharing of materials used to train Spelman College’s Title IX team members, including the Title IX Coordinator, investigators, decision-makers and advisers. As additional training is completed by Title IX team members, those materials will be added to this page throughout the year.
