Ensuring financial barriers do not determine enrollment and providing the foundation for student financial independence.
Expanding access to a Spelman education is essential to fulfilling the College’s mission.
A Spelman education equips students with the intellectual rigor, leadership capacity, and resilience to shape the world. Ensuring that talented students can enroll and graduate without financial barriers is therefore the most important investment in Spelman’s future.
Building a Future-Ready Spelman commits $325 million—65 percent of the campaign —to scholarships and financial aid. This investment reflects the changing financial realities facing today’s students and families and ensures that the College can continue to attract and graduate exceptional students from across the country and around the world.
This investment will generate approximately $11 million in annual scholarship support, helping more students graduate debt-free while preserving the academic excellence and access that define a Spelman education.

Spelman College is proud to share that 2,324 student scholars received a total of $27 million in institutional scholarships during the 2024-2025 school year. The funds included a combination of endowed and annual scholarships, along with merit and need-based aid.
