Enhancing Operational Excellence through technology transformation is a strategic priority for Spelman College. Due to the rapid pace of technological and digital advancements, the College is continually working to enhance technology resources to strengthen and secure the technology environment. Spelman Technology Services (STS) has led these efforts and leverages Title III resources to ensure that students, faculty, and staff have access to state-of-the-art technology and a robust network infrastructure that enables ubiquitous access to instructional technology.

STS continues to increase the efficiency of business processes, productivity, and agility by digitally transforming essential operational processes and services across key college business units. Title III support allows business units of the College to collaborate with the Ellucian team to continue to implement Ellucian CRM Advance, a customer relationship management software which allows improvement of operational processes and services in Institutional Advancement. The College will continue its Lotus Notes Domino migration activities to move business applications from a legacy system to a new, robust, modernized platform. The data governance management initiative is intended to significantly improve staff knowledge and understanding of best practices around handling college data, utilizing standard reporting tools, and sourcing data from a centralized data warehouse, ultimately leading to Spelman’s ability to further strengthen and secure college data.

The STS Team will continue implementing an Identity Management solution to provide identity services and enforce security policies. Additionally, STS will continue to implement the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, allowing the College to understand, manage, and reduce cybersecurity risks and protect the College's networks and data. Finally, STS will continue to lead the effort to update learning labs and classrooms with the most current instructional and computer technologies.

Along with modernization efforts, Title III support has supplemented the Spelman Technology Services (STS) efforts to do the following:

  • Migrate faculty and staff email from Lotus Notes to a new, modernized platform
  • Relocate Banner services to the cloud
  • Strengthen the College’s network infrastructure to ensure the availability of networks, servers, telecommunications, and database platforms
  • Implement cyber-security training, tools, and resources to support the detection, prevention, and mitigation of cyber risks to protect the College’s digital assets
