We are so glad you have chosen to make the residence halls at Spelman College your home, and we hope to help you make the most of your time on campus. Living on campus provides opportunities to develop a deep sense of community and to pursue your academic endeavors. You can be involved in all aspects of college life and get to know your Spelman sisters. We encourage you to make lifelong friends during your stay.


Move Out Information

24-Hour Quiet Hours

quietSleeping and studying are important as you work on your final project and exams. Therefore, 24-Hour Quiet Hours start Saturday, April 30 (last day of classes), at 12 a.m. and continue until the halls close on Saturday, May 7 at 12 p.m. Remember these points regarding 24-Hour Quiet Hours:

  • Defined as "no noise can be heard outside your door, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week."
  • All common area building spaces will be designated as quiet study spaces during finals.
  • Residents documented for noise will go through the student conduct process.
  • Residents should hold each other accountable for 24-Hour Quiet Hours.

Critical Checkout Information

  • Residents are strongly encouraged to leave no later than 24 hours after the completion of their last exam.
  • All residents not participating in Commencement must be out by Saturday, May 7, at 12 p.m.
  • Graduates must be out by Monday, May 16, at 12 p.m.
  • Remove all personal belongings and trash from the room; your room should be clean and look how it did when you moved in.
  • Complete an express checkout.
  • You must return your key(s) to us by sealing it in your completed express checkout envelope.
  • There is no guest visitation permitted in the residence halls due to COVID restrictions. Because of this, individuals assisting students to vacate the residence halls may enter to assist with departure ONLY. Individuals may not arrive in advance of checkout/move out for extended periods of time to clean, pack, etc.
