Sherina Maye Edwards is CEO in Residence at Red Arts Capital, a Chicago-based private equity firm, where she focuses on investing in and scaling middle-market utility infrastructure companies to drive operational improvements, expand market reach, and enhance long-term profitability. An accomplished executive and corporate board member, she is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of INTREN, a subsidiary of MasTec, a $14 billion Fortune 500 utility infrastructure company. She also served as Chief Strategy Officer at MasTec, where she was responsible for driving business acceleration, growth, and profitability.
Before her time at INTREN, Sherina was Head of the Energy Practice Group at Quarles & Brady LLP, where she advised clients on critical issues shaping the energy and utility landscape. She also gained extensive regulatory and policy experience during her five-year tenure as a Commissioner on the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC). A recognized thought leader, in 2016, Sherina was appointed by President Barack Obama and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx as Co-Chair of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Voluntary Information-Sharing System Working Group, advising on the protection of proprietary and security-sensitive information in the utility sector.
Sherina serves on the board of directors of Nexus Water Group, a water utility based in Houston, Midland States Bank (NYSE: MSBI), a community based financial holding company based in Illinois, Northwestern Energy (NASDAQ: NWE) an electric and gas utility based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She also serves on the Board of Trustees at Spelman College, her beloved alma mater, where she earned her B.A. in Psychology. Additionally, she holds a Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law.
