Spelman College Board of Trustees: Elected in 2025

Jewel Burks Solomon is managing partner at Collab Capital, a $125M+ early-stage venture capital fund she launched to invest in the building blocks of shared prosperity -- economic mobility, healthcare access and community infrastructure.
Prior to leading Collab Capital, Solomon was head of Google for Startups U.S., where she created initiatives that have deployed over $50M in non-dilutive capital to 500+ underserved businesses since 2020. Solomon's passion for leveling the playing field for founders was born from her own experience. She was the founder/CEO of Partpic, an AI startup that was acquired by Amazon in 2016, which streamlined the purchase of maintenance and repair parts using computer vision technology.
Solomon serves on the boards of The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, CallRail and the Center for American Entrepreneurship. She is a member of the Class 29 of Kauffman Fellows and the 2019 Class of Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute. Jewel received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Howard University. She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and son.
As a third-generation HBCU graduate, I stand on the shoulders of my parents and grandparents, who believed deeply in the power of Black institutions to drive progress. My journey as an entrepreneur, investor and advocate has shown me that lasting change is sparked by those with both vision and conviction.
Spelman College has long been a cornerstone of social justice, preparing generations of Black women to lead movements, challenge systems, and shape the future. At this critical moment, as AI and emerging technologies rapidly reshape every sector of society, Spelman has both the responsibility and the power to lead in developing the next generation of changemakers—leaders who will ensure innovation is ethical, inclusive and grounded in equity. It is a profound honor to serve on the Board and help steward this legacy into the future.
