Corey Lumpkin is a public health practitioner, educator, and community strategist whose work centers on youth development, violence prevention, and culturally responsive engagement. With over a decade of experience spanning government, nonprofit, and academic sectors, Corey brings a mission-driven approach to teaching and mentorship—one that blends historical insight, strategic thinking, and relational care.
As an instructor in the Environmental and Health Sciences Department at Spelman College, Corey is deeply committed to cultivating spaces where students feel seen, challenged, and inspired. Teaching at Spelman is especially meaningful because of its legacy of excellence, its unapologetic celebration of Black womanhood, and its role in shaping leaders who are both intellectually rigorous and socially conscious. Corey sees the classroom not just as a site of learning, but as a laboratory for transformation—where students connect theory to lived experience and develop the tools to lead with purpose.
