Allegra Lawrence-Hardy is a highly accomplished litigator known for her innovative thinking, tenacity and real-world solutions. Lawrence-Hardy has successfully defended Fortune 100 companies throughout the United States and abroad in numerous trials and arbitrations.
Known for her skill in trying cases, negotiating complex settlements, and finding creative solutions, Lawrence-Hardy advises clients daily on a wide range of complex litigation and labor and employment issues. She helps develop processes and tools for improving the efficiency and delivery of legal services, and often shares her deep litigation knowledge as a prolific author and sought-after speaker.
Lawrence-Hardy is a fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation only trial lawyer honorary society that represents less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellows are selected based on excellence and accomplishments in litigation, trial work and superior ethical reputation.
Among her many distinctions, Lawrence-Hardy has been recognized by Chambers USA: Guide to Leading Business Lawyers, repeatedly named to The Best Lawyers in America repeatedly included in the Georgia Trend “Legal Elite,” and repeatedly listed in Atlanta Magazine “Super Lawyer Top 100 Georgia Super Lawyers,” and “Top 50 Female Georgia Super Lawyers.” Lawrence-Hardy was selected for inclusion in The Black Lawyers “Top 100” and named to “Rainmakers” list by Diversity & the Bar. A leading practitioner in her field, Lawrence-Hardy is regularly quoted in the media on points of law.
A graduate of Spelman College magna cum laude, Lawrence-Hardy earned her law degree from Yale Law School. She was a law clerk to the Honorable Susan H. Black of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. After completing her legal education, Lawrence-Hardy joined one of the leading international law firms in the country and within 7 ½ years, became the first woman of color promoted to equity partners status in the firm. She went on to achieve the highest levels of leadership in private practice, serving on the firm’s executive committee and as chair of the firm’s business litigation and labor and employment groups.
A leader in the legal profession and steadfast in her vision to create a law firm deeply rooted in the values of integrity, authenticity and equity, Lawrence-Hardy left “BigLaw” in 2016 and co-founded Lawrence & Bundy, a litigation firm recognized for its uncompromising quality, deep investment in attorney-client relationships, and nimble, agile client service. With offices in Atlanta, Washington D.C. and New Orleans, the firm represents an array of sophisticated entities and individuals across a wide spectrum of industries throughout the country.
As an alumna of Spelman College, I can think of no greater honor than to serve on the Board of Trustees and participate in the strategic leadership of the College. Spelman prepared me for my choice to change the world. I am humbled to follow in the footsteps of my grandmother, former registrar, and my mother, former chair of the computer science department, in service to our beloved Spelman. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue the Spelman legacy and pass it on to future generations.
