Madison Emery: Building a Healthier Future

madisonMadison Emery is a member of the 2024 Pre-Health Summer Program cohort and aspires to become a Family Medicine Physician. She is committed to addressing the epidemic of type 2 diabetes in the African American community by helping children prevent the disease and supporting adults in managing it. Her ultimate goal is to make a significant impact on as many lives as possible in her community.

Emery is CPR, AED, and First Aid certified, an Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society member, recipient of the Silver Medal Health Careers Program Award, and holds a 3.96 GPA. She also received the Willingness to Serve and leadership character trait award from the First Baptist Church of Glenarden.

Emery chose to be an RA/TA because of her desire to support her peers and pave the way for those who will follow. “My leadership skills, resilience, kindness, and passion for helping others will empower my PHSP cohort sisters to lay a strong foundation for a successful Spelman career,” she said. “As a member of the 2024 PHSP cohort, having completed and benefited from the program, I have gained a profound understanding of what my sisters will need to thrive in this environment and beyond. The PHSP program, with its focus on fostering relationships in a nurturing environment, has been a valuable asset in preparing me for Spelman College. I am eager to share everything I have learned with the next cohort of future leaders.”
