Semaj Torain, C'2026, is a health science major at Spelman College who has advanced her journey toward medicine through the Health Careers Opportunity Pipeline and Preparation Program (HCOPPP). While in HCOPPP, she participated in the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at the University of Washington and conducted lung cancer research at Johns Hopkins. Torain has been accepted into the University of Rochester School of Medicine, where she plans to pursue oncology, focusing on improving cancer outcomes in the Black community. These experiences have solidified her commitment to addressing health disparities and promoting equitable healthcare.
