Spelman HCOPPP Scholar Makari StokesMakari Stokes, C'2027, a Health Career Opportunities Pipeline Preparation Program (HCOPPP) Scholar, has embraced numerous opportunities to advance her academic and professional journey in healthcare. Within her first year of participation, Stokes attended three major medical conferences: the "Diversifying the Next Generation of Doctors" conference hosted by the AAMC, the "Igniting the Dream" conference hosted by the Medical College of Georgia, and the Health Professions conference hosted by Spelman College.

In addition to her academic achievements, Stokes currently works as a tutor in the Spelman College Writing Center and serves as a Health Equity Ambassador with the American Cancer Society, advocating for community wellness. She also volunteers with Dr. Bass in the Health Careers Office, assisting with events and completing administrative tasks on a weekly basis.

Stokes is an active member of Spelman’s Society of Cosmetics, the Health Careers Program, and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. This summer, she will participate in a month-long study abroad immersion language program. In December, she is scheduled to attend a two-week Global Health trip to Trinidad and Tobago.
