HCOPPP Scholar: Lindsay Royston

Aspiring to be an Anesthesiologist

HCOPPP Scholar Lindsay RoystonLindsay Royston, C'2027, is a health sciences major on the pre-medical track at Spelman College. She is interested in medicine and health policy/administration and aspires to be an anesthesiologist. On campus, she serves as the secretary/treasurer/tutor for Mathematical Applications Shine to Encourage Rising Scholars (MASTERS), is a Spelman Health Career Opportunities Pipeline Preparation Program (HCOPPP) scholar, and a general body member of the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students, Health Careers Club, and Granddaughter’s Club.

In addition to being a member of the Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and the Dean’s list since her freshman year, Royston participated in the University of Michigan Medicine’s Undergraduate Research Academy, where she developed research skills by conducting a scoping review on structural racism in heart failure care, and gaining clinical experience through clinical simulations and shadowing thoracic surgeries, deepening her understanding of healthcare teamwork.

Outside of academics, Royston volunteers with Emory Decatur Labor Support Volunteers (EDLSV), where she provides free holistic services to laboring patients in the Emory Decatur Hospital Labor and Delivery Unit. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Royston enjoys dancing, traveling with friends and family, playing the Sims 4, crocheting, and reading in her spare time.
