Dominique Preston, C'2027, is a comparative women’s studies major with a minor in cosmetic science on the pre-physician assistant track. As a Health Careers Opportunity Pipeline Program Scholar, she is committed to addressing health disparities and advancing patient-centered care.
Preston has spent last summer and the bulk of her sophomore year conducting research through the Rackham Aspiring Fellows Program at the University of Michigan, focusing on the environmental injustice of Black beauty — examining the disproportionate presence of toxic chemicals in beauty products marketed to Black women.
On campus, she served as the vice president of the Sophomore Class Council, the Physician Assistant Committee chair and a Presidential Intern for the Health Careers Club, and is an active member of the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS). She is also in the process of becoming a Certified Medical Assistant and has received an offer to work as an MA at a dermatology practice in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan this summer. Preston is passionate about bridging the gap between cosmetic science and healthcare, particularly in dermatology and skincare equity in Black Women.
