From the Ground to the Globe: A Night with Pulitzer Center Reporters at Spelman
As part of Spelman’s International Education Week (IEW), the College is honored to welcome Pulitzer Center journalists Neenma Ebeledike and Vania André to campus on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 1 – 2:30 p.m. During this engaging session, students are invited to attend a screening of Allensworth Rising: A Fight for Water, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Neenma Ebeledike.
The program will also feature a panel discussion with both visiting journalists, offering insights into their reporting journeys and global storytelling. In addition, representatives from the Pulitzer Center will introduce the Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellowship Program and launch the 2025–2026 fellowship application.
Recent Spelman Pulitzer Reporting Fellows will share their experiences and advice on applying. This event presents an exciting opportunity for Spelman students to explore global reporting, connect with professional journalists, and learn how to become the next Pulitzer Reporting Fellow, receiving mentorship, travel opportunities, a stipend, and other professional benefits.
Neenma Ebeledike is a video and photojournalist passionate about amplifying the voices of marginalized individuals. Currently pursuing a Master’s in Journalism at UC Berkeley, she focuses on social justice issues, environmental challenges, and cultural resilience. Her Pulitzer Center-supported project, 'Allensworth Rising: A Fight for Water', is a 21-minute documentary following efforts to secure safe water for the historic town of Allensworth, CA.
Vania André is a first-generation Haitian-American media professional with a background in marketing, PR, and journalism. She has covered the Haitian community for nearly 10 years and currently serves as publisher and editor-in-chief of The Haitian Times. Her Pulitzer Center-supported project, "Dashed Dreams: Haiti Since the 2010 Quake," examines the events that have transpired in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake and assesses the country's progress since one of its greatest tragedies.
