Recognize
The following behaviors suggest a member of our campus community is in distress:
- Hostile, aggressive, or otherwise disruptive
- Extreme changes in personal hygiene, dress or appetite
- Unexplained crying, irritability, anxiety or anger
- Comments idolizing school shooters, etc.
- Appears to be struggling academically and/or is not attending classes regularly
- Reports feeling overwhelmed and/or uncomfortable transitioning to campus
- Experiences feelings of isolation, loneliness, or disconnection from peers
- Writes about threats to harm self or others
- Appears to be going through family problems, relationship problems and/or a break-up
- Experiences the loss of a loved one
- Constantly asks for help with personal problems that are beyond the scope of your role and/or expertise level
- Is consistently anxious, stressed, and/or depressed
- May benefit from a personalized outreach regarding resources available on campus
Please note that this is not an all-inclusive list. The CARE Team is always readily available to discuss scenarios concerning a student's health, well-being, and safety.
