Dr. Shereitte Stokes, IV, MPH, MIAD, has more than 15 years of experience in public health, environmental health, environmental sciences, and international affairs and development. His expertise includes but is not limited to: 1) collaborating with partners on community engagement, environmental health issues, environmental data analyses, exposure investigations, petitions, emergency response, health studies, and other environmental public health activities; 2) establishing protocols for successful program completion and advocacy efforts that includes identifying missions and goals, establishing objectives and specific aims, identifying evaluation criteria, and managing compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; and 3) managing public health programs, projects, and funding mechanisms, and evaluating programs and activities.
As a Health Scientist in the Community Engagement Science & Interventions Section (CESIS) in the Office of Capacity Development and Applied Prevention Science (OCDAPS) at the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), his primary responsibilities include: 1) Identifying areas for further investigation or other public health action on the basis of results of literature reviews and assessment of current data; 2) collaborating with others inside and outside ATSDR and fostering strategic partnerships with knowledge and information development, exchange, and dissemination to identify problems and form recommendations; 3) disseminating information relative to scientific findings and accomplishments through written documents, presentations, and communication technologies; and 4) leading ATSDR’s workforce development efforts.
Dr. Stokes has completed numerous fellowship programs, including the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership Class of 2020/2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Population Health Training in Place Program, the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Associated Colleges of the South Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Spelman College Environmental and Health Sciences Department. Dr. Stokes is a published author in several peer-reviewed scientific journals, has presented at numerous conferences, workshops, and symposia, and has received numerous awards – including selection to the 2024 CDC Strategic Leadership Institute Cohort 2.
Dr. Stokes received his Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from Rutgers the State University of New Jersey – Rutgers College; Master of Public Health from Morehouse School of Medicine; Master of International Affairs and Development from Clark Atlanta University; and Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Sciences from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
Dr. Stokes is an AFOL – Adult Fan of LEGO, an avid videogamer, and a sports car enthusiast. He is passionate about his Philadelphia, PA professional sports teams – Fly Eagles Fly 2024-2025 Superbowl Champions, and he loves spending time with his amazing wife and three children.
