Woodruff, Whitehead and Evans Foundations Fellowship
The Woodruff, Whitehead and Evans Foundations Fellowship provides work experience to recent college graduates interested in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. The Fellow assists staff in a range of Foundation activity. Applicants should be bright, curious, and self-motivated, and should demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare for and participate with staff in meetings with grant applicants and visits to organizations seeking support. Draft memoranda summarizing meetings.
- Assist with general correspondence with grantees and grant-seekers.
- Assist with database management, data collection and basic data analytics pertinent to the Foundations’ grantmaking.
- Support staff research requests and compile news clips related to the Foundations’ grantmaking.
- Attend staff meetings and give presentations on topics related to the Foundations’ grantmaking.
- Attend philanthropy association meetings and support the Foundations’ participation in association activity.
- Prepare briefings and assist with administrative tasks.

How to Apply
Complete the Domestic Competitive Awards Eligibility form. Once your eligibility is confirmed you will be sent a link to the Prestigious Awards Canvas page where you will submit your application materials, listed below, by the second Monday in November. You are encouraged to work with a Faculty Mentor during the application process.
Your application materials should be uploaded to the Woodruff section of the Prestigious Awards Canvas page as PDFs and must include:
- A brief letter explaining your interest and qualifications (see guidelines)
- Current resume/CV
- A copy of your unofficial Transcript
Interviews
Interviews are scheduled in mid-December. The Spelman Committee can nominate up to three (3) scholars to advance. If you are selected as a finalist by the Woodruff & Whitehead Committee you will be contacted for an interview in late January. Spelman is your primary point of contact, DO NOT contact the Woodruff & Whitehead Foundation directly regarding the fellowship.
Guidelines:
Please format and address your documents as you would if submitting directly to the foundations for the fellowship. Letters should be straightforward cover letter format and convey how you meet the profile, listed below, of the ideal candidate:
- Interest in the nonprofit sector, philanthropy, and Atlanta
- Bright, curious, flexible, and self-motivated
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to represent the Foundations in a professional work setting
