As Spelman College celebrates its 2026 graduating class, one graduate who stands out, Latisha Jones, C’2026, sociology and anthropology major, consistently turns ideas into action. Jones has worn many hats including interning at L’OReal and Founding “Mo’Shea”, a Shea Butter brand rooted in natural beauty and empowerment, at the age of 16. Jones not only has her own entrepreneurial drive but has spent much of her time at Spelman uplifting business innovation for the broader community.

Over the last three years, Jones has served as vice president of the Entrepreneurs Club, in which she has committed her time fostering a culture of business leadership on campus. Jones has played a key role in creating idea-generating space for students, guiding those students to be aspiring founders, and developing innovative ventures.

It takes community to build a business and being able to be a part of a rich environment of aspiring entrepreneurs have been a highlight of the program,” said Jones.

COMMITMENT AND DRIVE

Her commitment to the organization reflects not only her leadership skills but also her dedication to empowering and uplifting others.

Jones is also a proud Center for Black Entrepreneurship (CBE) Fellow. The CBE is the first-ever academic center of its kind to produce, train, and support a new generation of Black entrepreneurial talent. The CBE program has allowed Jones the opportunity to sharpen her entrepreneurial mindset and expand her ability to build a company from the ground up.  As a complement to her hands-on leadership, this distinction has been a highlight for her engagement with business education.

STARTING UP A DREAM

At the heart of Jones’s journey, sits her startup, “Chip In”, a fin tech application  making it easier than ever to split costs  among groups in an accessible, user-friendly way.  This idea to simplify shared costs is an innovative solution for groups during trips, events, or alike.

Jones, along with her co-founder, has  pitched their venture in the HBCU Black Ambition Pre-Accelerator, representing innovation, collaboration, and the power of HBCU entrepreneurship. Pitching her venture really emphasizes her ability to create practical solutions that solve everyday problems and communicate its value. After graduation, Jones plans to continue to invest in her start-up.
Jones has truly shown an unwavering commitment to innovation and business.
"I am a fighter at heart. If someone tells me no, I look at it as a new opportunity,” Jones said during a DreamHer Podcast interview.

As Jones prepares to graduate, she leaves behind a legacy of innovation while creating pathways for others. In a graduating class full of promise, she is another leader who doesn’t wait for change but actually builds it.
