Spelman Student Receives Visionary Integration Professionals Scholarship

Spelman College is proud to announce that Kennedy Watson, C’2028, a computer science major, has been selected to receive a scholarship through the 2025 Women in Technology Scholarship Program. Funded through Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP), the scholarship supports young women in the pursuit of degrees in technology-related fields such as computer science, information management, and more.

Watson, along with eight other winners, was chosen based on academic achievement, community involvement, leadership, and character. Each of the 2025 recipients will receive up to $2,500 to attend the two or four-year college of their choice.

“With each year of the scholarship program, we continue to be inspired by the applicants’ achievements and aspirations,” said Jonna Ward, CEO of VIP. “This year’s recipients truly embody the spirit of the program, showcasing their passion for learning, leadership, and advanced opportunities for women in technology. Congratulations to each of our winners!”

Applicants were asked to submit a short video highlighting their strengths and the qualities they hope to pass on to future generations of women in technology. Many emphasized resilience and curiosity as essential traits for success in the field.

“This achievement reminds me to keep pushing forward, not only for myself but for the communities I represent,” said Watson. “I’m grateful to Spelman for cultivating an environment where I can challenge myself, innovate, and be supported by inspiring faculty and peers. Opportunities like this remind me of the impact that perseverance can have.”
