Kennedy Hoyt Selected as One of Glamour’s 2025 Women of the Year

Making Change on the Runway or in the Halls of Her Own Agency

Glamour Magazine recently selected Kennedy Hoyt, C’2027, as one of its 2025 College Women of the year. Hoyt was recognized among five other students for their notable contribution to the community and becoming a valued presence on campus. In the previous year, the focus was to highlight outstanding college students of all ages from HBCUs to community colleges in STEM. This year was a return-to-form as the magazine set out to honor six college fashion students who represent the future of the industry.

“I feel eternally grateful and excited,” said Hoyt. “It makes me proud to be able to not only represent my institution but also acknowledge the dreams of the women before me and see the things my mom and I talked about come to fruition.”

Hoyt, an arts major, seeks to challenge conventional boundaries in fashion design. She is the second Spelman student to represent the College, following the 2024 selection of her classmate Ava Flanigan, C’2027.

“I hope to make a change via the runway or even in the halls of my own agency one day. Furthermore, it means that all those mornings I argued with my mom about miniskirts and khakis paid off,” said Hoyt. “I had a vision as a young girl and being able to embrace it, go after it, and be in rooms I only used to dream of heals something within me. Maybe the dreams really weren’t for nothing!”

Hoyt’s aspiration to work in public relations is driven by her desire to amplify the voices of Black and Brown brands. She is committed to spotlighting these brands with greater protection, value and prioritization.

Hoyt founded The Curious Kid Collective, a community initiative that promotes and advocates the exploration of creativity and literary for children through storytelling and art, earlier this year. The Collective further distinguishes Hoyt as a changemaker within her community and underscores her commitment to going beyond educational norms. Hoyt not only demonstrates her ability to lead outside the classroom, but in the classroom as well; she is an honor roll student and a 2025 recipient of the Virgil Abloh Post-Modern Scholarship Fund.

“I will say that this has sharpened my focus immensely,” said Hoyt. “I feel like with faith and trust I can finally get the ball rolling, and it feels like I am not just holding onto crumbs anymore.”
