Thank you for your interest in covering Spelman College’s 2020 and 2021 Commencement celebrations.

All media – reporters, photographers, videographers, freelancers – interested in covering Spelman College Commencement activities must complete the Media Credentials Request Form no later than Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 12 p.m.

Commencement Coverage

Spelman’s 2020 Commencement ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, May 16, at Georgia Institute of Technology Bobby Dodd Stadium.

The 2021 Commencement ceremony will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 16, at the Bobby Dodd Stadium.

The Commencement ceremony will be streamed live.

Media Credentials for the Commencement Activities

Media interested in covering Commencement activities or interviewing Commencement participants must request media credentials. Each person within an organization must apply individually.

  • Please submit credential request by Tuesday, May 11, at 12 p.m.
  • Credentials can be picked up in person at Gate 6 of the Bobby Dodd Stadium on the day of the event.
  • Freelance reporters/photographers must present a letter of assignment from an official media outlet
  • A business ID will be required - acceptable business identification includes:
    1. Business card with name, title and address of media outlet
    2. Police-issued press card
    3. Recent bylined article indicating you are staff editor, writer, reporter or regular contributor
  • Logistical details will be forwarded to media covering Commencement on or before Friday, May 14, at 12 p.m.

Baccalaureate Coverage

The Baccalaureate ceremony will be virtual and streamed live  on Saturday, May 15 at 3 p.m.

Photography and Videography Release

Please be aware that photographers and members of the media will be taking photographs and filming Spelman's Commencement activities. Your presence at the ceremonies constitutes your release, permission, and consent to be photographed and/or recorded. Pictures and/or recordings of you may appear in future printed materials and online, including in commercially available publications.

If you do not wish to be photographed and/or recorded, please be aware of the presence of photographers and members of the media and take steps to avoid contact.
