Dr. Janike Ruginis Gross is for the World Languages and Literature Department.
Dr. Janike Ruginis Gross has taught a range of Spanish language and culture courses at the undergraduate level, from introductory and intermediate levels to upper-level seminars. Her approach to teaching Spanish is centered on creating an engaging environment by incorporating a variety of visual and textual material from multiple regions in Latin America into daily lessons. Dr. Ruginis Gross holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies from Emory University. She joined the World Languages and Literature Department at Spelman College in 2016. Her research interests include cultural studies and visual culture, with a focus on the intersection of aesthetics, socio-economic and political history, photography, and film in nineteenth- to twentieth-century Argentina and Brazil.
