Love, Joy and Power: Tools for Liberation
Spelman College’s Social Justice Program is proud to present a special screening of Love, Joy and Power: Tools for Liberation on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, at 3 p.m.
This event is directed by Dr. Cynthia Spence, with coordinating programmer Ms. Pam Stegall, and curated by Professor Anjanette Levert as part of the college’s ongoing film series centered on stories of justice and empowerment. The documentary, directed by Daresha Kyi and produced by Trevite Willis, highlights the inspiring work of the Black Voters Matter Fund. Featuring co-founders LaTosha Brown, Cliff Albright, and April Albright, the film sheds light on their efforts to strengthen Black political power and build communities grounded in love, joy, and collective liberation.
Following the screening, guests will have the opportunity to engage in a post-film Q&A with director Daresha Kyi and the Black Voters Matter co-founders. This conversation will provide a powerful space to reflect on the film and learn more about the movement for voter rights and social change. The screening will take place at 3 p.m. in the Center for Innovation and the Arts Theater, located on the first floor of Spelman College. Admission is free, but an RSVP is required.
