Terri Walthour is the vice president of Human Resources and Culture. As vice president for Human Resources and Culture, Walthour will report to interim President Roz Brewer and will be instrumental in expanding the impact of People & Culture (PoC) to include talent acquisition, total rewards, learning and development, employee relations and engagement across the college. She will also be focused on engaging with key stakeholders to build and support a culture that advances Spelman’s reputation as an excellent place to work.
Walthour brings to Spelman College over 15 years of experience promoting service excellence and shaping talent strategy in complex organizations across higher education. She has a proven track record of success in areas such as human resources strategy and planning, stakeholder engagement, organizational change management, talent management, and culture transformation.
In her previous role as assistant vice president and chief human resources officer at the University of West Georgia, Walthour served as the senior leader for people and culture strategy, providing guidance and counsel to the President and other senior leaders. Her accomplishments include driving change management strategy, leading HRIS implementations, and fostering a cohesive learning environment for faculty, staff, and student employees. She also has experience as a human resources officer at Georgia State University and as a human resources director at the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta.
Walthour holds a master of arts in organizational management from Ashford University and a bachelor of science in healthcare management from Clayton State University. She is a certified professional for Talent Development (CPTD), a certified professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Gallup-Certified Professional Coach.
