Dr. Carlisa B. Simon is a lecturer in the Psychology Department. She served as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she applies her expertise in developmental psychology and research methods to investigate resilience in communities affected by systemic oppression. She has over five years of experience in conducting and disseminating cross-sectional and longitudinal research in diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.
Simon's mission is to help strengthen the sociopolitical and advocacy prowess of oppressed communities through evidence-based interventions and recommendations. She has developed skills in program evaluation, data management and analytics, and writing for a variety of mediums, such as grants, reports, academic publications, online blogs, and professional white papers. She holds a PhD in Education, Human Development, and Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she also served as an editor and a data analyst for various academic projects and initiatives.
