Sydney Victoria Scott, C'2025, a senior biochemistry major, has distinguished herself through a remarkable commitment to academic excellence, undergraduate research and peer support. A member of the Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program and a Spelman Presidential Scholar, Scott has conducted advanced research in the Brown Lab, where her work focused on the post-translational modification of ADP ribosylation factor 6, a protein involved in pathogen invasion. In addition to research, she served as a Chemistry Learning Center tutor, helping her peers master complex material through strategic study plans and discussions.
Scott’s accolades include a first-place win at Spelman Research Day 2024 for her oral presentation, "Thermostability Profiling of a User-defined Peptide-MHC Library." Her extensive scientific training also includes a summer research stint at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Scott's career aspirations center on increasing diversity in science and advocating for underrepresented groups through biomedical research.
