Throughout her matriculation at Spelman College, Ms. Grissom has enthusiastically served as a Museum Ambassador. Our visitors have been greeted by her affable demeanor and commitment to making their Museum experience wonderful.
We are immensely humbled that Kendra mentioned her time with the Museum in the many stories that celebrated her accomplishment as Spelman’s C’2020 Valedictorian.
A history major at Spelman, Kendra will pursue a Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University. Her overall goal is to become a professor at a Historically Black College or University, where she plans to work to make history more accessible while actively impacting change in public education.
When asked what her message would be for her peers, she said, “Take care of yourself – I am not just talking about applying facials! Protect your peace, protect your space, learn how to say no, do not be so hard on yourself, remember that your worth is not determined by your failures and successes, give yourself the grace to make mistakes. Enjoy your journey!”
