How much does the Museum cost?

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art is free and open to the public. There is a small parking fee. Donations are always appreciated.

Are there activities for children?

Occasionally, there are activities for school-age children. Exhibitions may contain artworks that have nudity or difficult subjects.

How do I hold and event at the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art?

If you are a Spelman department employee, you can submit a detailed request by email with information regarding the museum's use for our review. The Museum is not available for private use or use beyond the Spelman Community.

How do I submit art to be shown in the Museum?

Spelman College Museum of Fine Art seeks to show and support the spectrum of works created by women artists of the African Diaspora. It is in alignment with the College’s longstanding charge to shape, mold, and prepare Black women to make indelible contributions to society in all areas. Artists are invited to show in the museum and we do not accept solicitations.

Will I be photographed while visiting the Museum?

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art may photograph, film, record audio or videotape guest for educational and /or promotional purposes. Visitation is implied consent for the use of the guest’s likeness, voice or video image for marketing purposes.

Spelman College advises visitors that they are subject to being photographed or recorded and their presence on campus acknowledges that they accept this policy. Signs posted throughout campus indicate the policy in detail. If visitors to the museum prefer not to be photographed, they should feel free to notify the museum ambassador at the front desk or a member of the museum staff.

May I use my cellphone in the Museum?

Yes, there is NO FLASH for approved photography or video capture. Please keep cell phone conversations to a minimum during your visit for the enjoyment of all visitors. We ask that all phones be set to silent, vibrate, or turned off.
