Spelman College Museum of Fine Art is located on the first floor of the Camille Olivia Hanks Academic Center
Traveling to the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art is easy. We are located five minutes west of downtown Atlanta, just a short drive from I-20, in the Atlanta University Center.

The museum is closed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, holidays, and Spelman campus breaks.

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art is free and open to the public.

Accessibility

The Museum is fully accessible. It is on the ground level at the south entrance of the Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Academic Center, and a ramp is also located at the east entrance.

Guided Tours

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art provides customized guided tours for audiences of all ages.

  • Group tours facilitate dialogue and connect visitors with the works of art on view, with their peers, and also with the world around them.

  • Academic tours are designed to reach students from preschool through graduate school and support classroom learning and cultural engagement

  • Highlight tours are 30-minute experiences designed for those seeking information about the works on view from a knowledgeable guide.
Visitor Guidelines
  • Please, Do Not Touch the art. We ask visitors to remain at least 2 feet from works of art

  • Food or beverages are not permitted inside of the Museum.

  • Visitors are allowed to take photographs. However, we ask you not to use a flash. Please tag

  • #SpelmanMuseum if you post your photographs on social media.

  • As a courtesy to other visitors, please limit cell phone use while in the Museum.

  • The Museum does not have a coat and baggage check. Bags larger than 11 x 15 inches must be left at the front desk.

  • Wet umbrellas are prohibited inside the Museum and must be left in the designated receptacle at the entrance.

  • Pets are not allowed.

  • All weapons are prohibited.

  • Pens are not permitted in the Museum. Please use pencils to take notes or sketch.

  • Please supervise children under the age of 13 at all times.

  • Soliciting, loitering, and political campaigning are prohibited.

  • The Museum does not tolerate discrimination, harassment, unjust, or prejudicial treatment of any kind.

  • Please do not leave personal possessions (bags, purses, phone, keys, laptops, etc.) unattended. The Museum is not responsible for lost, misplaced or stolen items.
Parking Information
Visitors may park in the West Parking Deck at the main entrance to Spelman College. The Museum is a 3-minute walk from the parking deck and is located on the first floor of the Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Academic Center.

Parking Details:

  • Daily fees are $1 per half hour and $3 daily with no in/out privileges. The lost ticket fee is $6.

  • Parking is limited and available on a first come, first-served basis.

  • Visitors may park in the Fine Arts parking lot after 5:30 p.m. during the week and all day on the weekends at no cost.

  • The Museum is unable to offer free or discounted parking.

  • When no attendant is on duty, please use the Pay-On-Foot or Pay-In-Lane machines located on the first floor of the parking deck.

  • Electric vehicle charging stations are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Accessible parking spaces are available on the first floor of the parking deck.
Tour/Group Parking
Advance reservations are required for guided adult and student groups of 10 or more. See “Visit/Tours” for more information.
Spelman College is unable to accommodate large transit buses and school buses. Such vehicles must drop guests near the campus street entrance and then return at a designated time for pickup

Emergency call boxes are located on each level of the parking deck and closed-circuit TV security systems are in place for your protection.
