Spelman Film Fusion Set to Host Annual Showcase
Spelman Film Fusion is hosting its second annual showcase next weekend to highlight student artists. The event will run from 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, to Sunday, March 30, in the Camille Olivia Hanks Academic Center Cosby, Ed.D., Auditorium. The showcase will include a visual art session, film screenings, and a fireside chat. The Frame By Frame fireside chat will feature Nia Rae Lambert, C'2025 and Hollywood film editor Kristin Valentine, C'2009. Valentine will share insight into her career in film and tv editing. Valentine has worked on films such as "Euphoria", "Dune," "Malcolm & Marie," and more.

A Visual Art session will showcase art from Atlanta University Center (AUC) students. This includes photography, painting, and graphic design.
Film Screening | Giles 106 | 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
The film screening will show student filmmakers from various genres, such as documentary, fiction, and music videos. Featured filmmakers include Karama Bridges, C'2024, Nia Rae Lambert, C'2025, Ysa Lopez, C'2025, Miles Colbert, Mallory Butts, C'2025, Sean Bagley, and Nya Lovelock, C'2026.

Spelman Film Fusion is a radical group of LGBTQIA+, metro-Atlanta-based women artists and their allies who are reclaiming narratives, expanding the impact of resources, and creating more liberating futures for themselves through Spelman College’s Art and Visual Culture Department. Created by and for Spelmanites, Spelman Film Fusion works to pool resources, empower artists, and encourage artistic freedom through collaboration and innovation. Frame by Frame: An AUC Celebration of film and visual mediums was established in 2023 as the AUC Showcase. Now entering its third year, the reimagined weekend-long event has evolved into a one-of-a-kind space that celebrates the creative brilliance of the Atlanta University Center. A community gathering that brings together visual and motion arts to spotlight bold storytelling, cultural expression, and innovative artistry.
In its first year, the showcase received 41 submissions, followed by 50 submissions last year, reflecting the growing excitement and dedication of AUC students to share their work. Through curated exhibitions, film screenings, and unique award opportunities, Frame by Frame offers an unparalleled stage for emerging student creators, fostering a creative community like no other in the AUC.
