Off-Campus, Still Connected: Support for Commuter Students

Many juniors, seniors and nontraditional students live off campus and commute anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes from campus.

Commuter Lounge and Lockers

The lounge and lockers are located in Lower Manley. You will need your own lock and will sign a locker agreement in the Office of Inclusion. Beyond the locker room, there is a bathroom equipped with showers for your use.

Commuter Lounge Hours: Monday – Friday | 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Commuter Student Association

Commuter students are important members of the Spelman College community, so let your voice be heard by joining the Commuter Student Association. Who knows? Maybe you’ll meet a new friend with whom you can carpool or find a buddy to chat with while you ride the train. We’re all about making your commute to campus and your Spelman experience more enjoyable. Please join. 

On-campus Parking

Student parking is available to purchase for $300 per semester. Daily parking rates are $3 per day. With daily parking, vehicles must park in the parking deck. A declining balance card is available for purchase in the AAA Parking office for daily parking. All student vehicles must be registered with AAA Parking to obtain the sticker for your windshield. The AAA Parking office is located on the first level of the West Parking Deck. Contact the AAA Parking office at (404) 270-5431.

Commuter students can park anywhere on campus, but only during visitation hours, which are from 5:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Monday – Friday and from 7 a.m. – 11:45 p.m. on weekends.

Only persons in the paid parking program will have access to campus parking when parking becomes limited to ensure spaces are available to those who paid in advance.

ENFORCEMENT NOTICE
Strict enforcement of campus parking regulations is necessary to ensure compliance with fire codes and unimpeded access for emergency vehicles. It also enables the College to meet the guarantee of parking availability to individuals enrolled in the various pre-pay parking programs offered. Vehicles violating campus parking regulations are subject to removal from the property at the owner's expense without notice or warning. Repeated violations of Spelman traffic or parking regulations may result in the loss of Spelman parking privileges.

  • Campus Surface Lots are reserved for faculty and staff, physically handicapped, and monthly permit hang tags only Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Visitation Parking Hours last from 5:30 p.m. – 11:45 p.m. Monday – Friday and start at 9 a.m. Saturday – Sunday. During this time all can park for free in any available parking space on the surface lots.
  • Commuter PAID DAILY PERMIT can park in the West parking deck when space is available only or on surface lots during visitation hours. Find alternate parking when the deck is for paid decals only!
  • Commuter PAID PERMIT West Parking Deck must park in the West parking deck except during visitation hours; surface lots can be used.
  • Commuter PAID PERMIT Surface Commuter Lot must always park in the Surface Commuter Lot, located at Lee Street and West End Avenue, except during visitation hours.
  • Overnight parking is not permitted.

Visitation hours for commuter students are 5:30 p.m. – 11:45 p.m. Monday – Friday and 7 a.m. – 11:45 p.m. on weekends.

Meal Plans

Commuter Meal Plan Fall 2026 - IMPORTANT!!! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

  • Commuter meal plans are available only to students who reside off campus.
  • Commuter meal plan selections will be posted to the student’s account by the end of the next business day following submission of the request form.
  • All commuter meal plans are valid for one semester.
  • Students are required to submit a new request each semester to enroll in a commuter meal plan.
  • Meal plans may be modified or canceled in Etrieve by the applicable deadline date. The deadline to request, modify, or cancel a commuter meal plan for the Fall 2026 semester is August 28, 2026, at 4 p.m.
  • Charges will be prorated based on the effective date the meal plan is modified or canceled.
  • Meal plans and Dining Dollars are non-transferable and non-refundable. Unused meals and Dining Dollars will expire on the last day of the semester.
  • No refunds will be issued for missed meals, and unused meals will not be carried forward.

Dining Card Policy

  • The Spelman ID card serves as the official dining card and is required for all dining transactions, without exception.
  • Dining cards are for the exclusive use of the cardholder. Spelman Dining reserves the right to confiscate any card used by an individual other than the authorized cardholder.
  • In the event an ID card is lost or stolen, the card must be replaced immediately in order to continue accessing dining services.
  • Additional Dining Dollars may be purchased through Bon Appétit, located in Manley Hall.


Your Spelman ID, which serves as your dining card, is required for all transactions- NO EXCEPTIONS. Your dining card is limited to your use only. Spelman Dining reserves the right to confiscate any card being used for any purchases by anyone other than you. If your ID card is lost or stolen, you must immediately replace the card in order to have access to dining services. Additional Dining Dollars may be purchased through Bon Appétit Food Services located in Manley Hall.
