Documentary production major Neema Griffin, C’2023, has been selected to the inaugural cohort of the Gotham EDU Executive Leadership Program. This initiative, in partnership with the Gotham Film and Media Institute and Soledad O’Brien’s SO’B Productions, provides undergraduate students of color identifying as women or nonbinary the opportunity to advance their careers in marketing, communications, and development within the film and media industry.
In addition to quarterly leadership and career development workshops that will focus on negotiating skills and emotional intelligence, students will get to network with the Gotham community, attend "Women in Media Salons" hosted by O’Brien, and receive one-on-one mentoring from the industry’s leading executives. This year’s mentors are Netflix’s Nyle Washington, Neon/Super’s Darcy Heusel and Firelight Media’s Chloe Walter-Wallace.
Griffin was one of three students selected from a competitive nomination process that included 28 students representing 13 colleges and universities. She is currently working on the production of her documentary film focused on the historical Igbo Landing site in coastal Georgia.
