Alumna Honored for Her Research on Racism and Psychology

December 2019

Candice Nicole Hargons Candice Nicole Hargons, Ph.D., C’2005, was awarded a Presidential Citation from the American Psychological Foundation for her deep commitment to pressing forward social justice agendas in psychology. 

Although she’s only four years post-Ph.D., Dr. Hargons, an associate professor of counseling and psychology at the University of Kentucky, has been recognized with scholarly and community service-focused state and national awards. 

A talented researcher, teacher, mentor and leader, she is the creator of the Ally + Accomplice Meditation for Cultivating an Anti-Racist Mindset and the Black Lives Matter Meditation for Healing Racial Trauma. These free resources combine affirmation and mindfulness to promote healing among Black Americans and are readily available for free on the web.
