Treasure C. Goddard, C’2019, Kendall A. Daniels, C’2020, and Raeggin Williams, C’2021, were among a group of Spelman students attending this year’s
Grace Hopper Celebration.
Each year women technologists from around the world gather together for the event held in honor of Hopper, a computer programmer who helped develop a precursor to the widely used COBOL language and became a rear admiral in the U.S. Navy.
A total of 14
computer and information science majors attended the conference from Spelman. Some were able to secure mentors, while others were successful in securing internship opportunities.
“Seeing women in computing who look like me was a highlight of the experience,” said Daniels. “It was really refreshing to see Black women of all ages, from all regions, in differing tech fields, together in one place networking and fellowshipping.”
