Zerita Buchanan, C’2010, D.D.S.
Panelist: Oral Healthcare Disparities in the Black Community
Zerita C. Buchanan is a graduate of Spelman College and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. Currently she practices alongside her father Brian K. Buchanan, D.D.S., at Dental Dreams LLC in Lithonia, Georgia. As a fourth-generation dentist, Buchanan continues her family legacy of providing exceptional dental care to her community through modern and innovative techniques. She is deeply passionate about mentorship and currently serves as the assistant director of the Increasing Diversity in Dentistry Pipeline program. Buchanan also has served as a mentor for Spelman College’s Sister2Sister Mentorship program for the past five years.
Recently, she was selected to participate in LEAD Atlanta Class of 2020. Founded by Leadership Atlanta, LEAD, is an initiative for emerging young professionals who represent the next generation of young leaders in metro Atlanta. Every month, Buchanan attends study club meetings with Atlanta’s top oral health specialist to stay abreast of the latest advances in dentistry. She is also an active member of several professional organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and The Dogwood City (GA) Chapter of The Links Inc.
