Recognizing Concerning Behavior

If you observe and/or are made aware of student behavior that leaves you feeling concerned, worried and/or alarmed, TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS and SAY SOMETHING. The CARE Team can assist with the concern and, in some cases, provide you with suggestions as to how you can assist the student directly.

Still not sure? You can indicate on the CARE Team Report Form what type of follow-up you are requesting. A member of the CARE Team will reach out to you as soon as possible. For questions regarding the CARE Team process, please call the CARE-line at 404-270-4254. A member of the team can guide you through the process.

  • Appears to be struggling academically and/or is not attending classes regularly
  • Reports feeling overwhelmed and/or uncomfortable transitioning to campus
  • Experiences feelings of isolation, loneliness, or disconnection from peers
  • Writes about threats to harm self or others
  • Appears to be going through family problems, relationship problems and/or a break-up
  • Experiences the loss of a loved one
  • Constantly asks for help with personal problems that are beyond the scope of your role and/or    expertise level
  • Is consistently anxious, stressed, and/or depressed
  • May benefit from a personalized outreach regarding resources available on campus

Please note that this is not an all-inclusive list. The CARE Team is always readily available to discuss scenarios concerning a student's health, well-being, and safety.
