Semester Study Abroad & International Exchange

Update for All Semester Study Abroad Participants

All campus-sponsored travel, domestic and international, has been canceled for the time being. This includes planned study abroad travel, and is due to the CDC’s advisory warnings counseling the suspension of all discretionary travel abroad. Adjustments have been made to ensure that all Spelman students majoring in international studies or the languages will be able to make progress toward their degrees without satisfying the normal semester abroad requirement.

Fall 2020 Participants
As soon as possible, please make arrangements with your department chair/advisor to ensure advisement and registration for fall 2020, if you have not done so already.

Spring 2021 Participants
Per the Spelman College Virtual Town Hall No. 8 on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, the College will make a determination during the fall 2020 semester on the status of study abroad for spring 2021.

Virtual Global InternshipsSpecial Note for Summer and Fall 2020 Study Abroad Participants

If you were a Summer 2020 or Fall 2020 study abroad participant, we are extending an opportunity for you to select a virtual global internship opportunity this Fall 2020 for three or four academic credits. Please contact Dr. Karen Clay, Assistant Director of Study Abroad, at kclay2@spelman.edu, or set up a virtual advising appointment for more information.

Spelman students have extended their learning experience beyond the campus classroom through study abroad. Our students have traveled to over 40 countries including Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and Latin America.

We have partner institutions and organizations as well as relationships with exchange partnerships with universities in the West Indies, England, Czech Republic, Japan and Chile. Financial aid and scholarship assistance is available to support your study abroad experience.

Make your mark on the world by studying abroad!
