Apply for Semester Study Abroad

Semester Study Abroad Application Steps

1. Review Semester Study Abroad Requirements for study abroad eligibility and program advisement.  Contact Dr. Clay at kclay2@spelman.edu to schedule an appointment for questions.
2. Visit your Academic Advisor and/or Department Chair for academic advisement & program fit.
3. Select Apply Now.
4. Submit a Preliminary Application for Department Chair Approval
   • Log-in with your iNotes credentials (username and password) to complete and submit the form. The password is Sp*********! (where the ********* is your 900#)
5. With Department Chair(s) approval, proceed to the Spelman Study Abroad Application
   (a)    complete the Study Abroad Application and one page 200-500 word statement
   (b)    upload a picture with a white background
   (c)    upload a copy of valid passport
   (d)    upload resume
   (e)    upload unofficial transcript  (Official Transcript is due the semester before travel. Order your official transcript and send electronically to Dr. Karen Clay.)
6. Obtain two letters of recommendation from Spelman faculty.  One of the letters of recommendation must be from a faculty member in the major. We encourage students to provide our
   SAB Recommendation Form in lieu of a written recommendation on letterhead.
7. Submit the online Health Statement Form
8. Apply to Program Provider
   Submit your program provider application on their program provider web portal.*  This is the one program provider you have selected. Do not upload transcripts or letters of recommendation to the program provider web portal. The Spelman Study Abroad Office will submit these documents on your behalf
9. Submit online Course Approval Form
10. Submit the online International Travel Authorization Form
