Meet Our Georgia Women's Policy Institute Scholars (GWPI)

Georgia Women's Policy Institute Scholar - Susanna Major, C'2024

Susana MajorSusanna Major is a junior Political Science major from McLean, Virginia. Major is a motivated activist who advocates a multitude of issues such as women’s rights, environmental justice, and labor rights.

This past summer, Major was a Union Scholar for AFSCME in partnership with Harvard’s Trade Union Program. She experienced firsthand the process of forming a union for the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. From participating in bargaining sessions to leading BIPOC Committee Meetings, she was given a well-rounded experience of the labor movement in Chicago.

She is honored to serve as the Co-Chair of the Political Action Committee for Spelman’s Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People where she creates a lasting impact by increasing youth civic engagement. Major is also a Student Organizing Fellow with Rise where she works tirelessly to expand voter turnout in Georgia’s midterm election.
