Montsho Canton is a sophomore and Ethel Waddell Githii Honors student with a Sociology major, Asian Studies, and Spanish double minor from Hamden, Connecticut. She is interested in alternative punishment, criminal justice reform, and youth restorative justice. Passionate about developing systems affording convicted felons second chances, Montsho will use her language proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and Spanish to study the various global definitions of punishment and reform to help improve American systems of punitive law. She serves as finance committee co-chair for the Spelman NAACP and is a member of the Spelman Morehouse Pre-Law Society, The Granddaughters Club, and Spelman’s Chapter of Fair Fight U. After Spelman College, she looks forward to attending law school and becoming a Criminal Defense Attorney.
