Lauren Taylor, C'2022, is a senior economics major and a member of the following clubs and organizations: the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, National Society of Leadership and Success, Financial Literacy Club, and the economics department communications team. The Atlanta native is also Miss Legacy of the Spelman College Granddaughters Club, event coordinator for the Chinese Club, and co-president of the National Council of Negro Women.
As an Africa American, Taylor chose to study economics because she saw how detrimental financial exclusion can be. By studying the complexities of economics, she is able to use her knowledge of economics to build a platform that influences policy to bring a range of financial opportunities to those that need it most. Taylor’s areas of research are the disciplines of urban economics, labor economics, development economics and their intersections.
