Garilyn Vause, a senior economics major, food studies minor, enjoys cooking food for her Spelman sisters on campus.
She expresses her passion through Instagram Reels & TikTok videos in order to market many of her catering start-up creations. As it relates to research, she is keenly interested in becoming more educated within the realm of food science, nutritional science, and the history/culture of food.
Vause, who enjoys experimenting with different recipes and infusing her own twist into various cuisines, also believes that it is extremely vital to bring social awareness to healthy nutritional practices. Upon graduation in May 2022, she plans to open her own Atlanta-based restaurant and will offer a mixture of American and international dishes. In the long-term, she hopes to scale her company beyond Atlanta in order to expand her restaurant’s social impact efforts.
