Seven Spelman students recently participated in “Cultural Encounters in Brazil,” a four-week, summer study abroad program in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. During the trip, the students explored the history and culture of the South American country, with a focus on Afro-Brazilian experiences.

Many tributes in Castro's honor were expressed through song. While visiting Todos las Manos Community project, an organization dedicated to artistic community outreach, we were serenaded with a nationalist song espousing the joys of Cuban life.
