Spelman's Andrew Young Scholars

Spelman College, in partnership with the Higher Life Foundation, founded The Ambassador Andrew Young International Scholars Program. The program was established with the purpose of honoring the life and work of a man with a monumental role in advancing civil and human rights as well as international affairs.

In 2013, ten outstanding students from high schools across the African continent demonstrating high academic achievement, leadership skills, and strong character were selected to receive full scholarships to Spelman College from the foundation. These young women are destined to serve as a new generation of leaders who will continue to shine as scholars in Africa and around the world.
