Art Frazier, Green Leader
Arthur E. Frazier III, AIA is a licensed architect and the director of Facilities Management & Services at Spelman College. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but left Louisville as a teenager to attend Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. After his junior year, he sub-matriculated to Purdue University’s Engineering Program.
A summer architectural internship led Frazier to transfer to the University of Pennsylvania where he received a bachelor’s degree in design of the environment and a master’s degree in architecture. Upon graduation, he worked for the Philadelphia Architect’s Workshop and completed numerous design projects for low-income clientele. He then relocated to Atlanta to practice architecture for six years each with Cooper Carry & Associates & Lord, Aeck & Sargent.
For two years, he served as deputy director of Facilities of the Fulton County Capital Improvements Program before joining Emory University’s Department of Project Management & Construction as Capital Program Manager and later interim director. Immediately prior to Spelman College, Frazier was a senior program manager with Clement & Wynn Program Managers. Under Frazier’s leadership the facilities department at Spelman has been nationally recognized as a leader in sustainability among historically Black colleges and received the President’s 2008 Award for Excellence in Customer Service.
Frazier is co-chair of Sustainable Spelman and also serves as president of GAPPA and chairman of the board of directors of the University Community Development Corp.
